MEDICAID INFRASTRUCTION GRANT
NOTICE OF FUNDS AVAILABLE / REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS
The Division of Health Care Financing & Policy announces funds are available to address Medicaid Infrastructure and Employment Supports for People with Disabilities. All nonprofit agencies, for-profit entities, educational institutions, state agencies, or local governmental agencies performing or anticipating performing a function relevant to program areas of the Medicaid Infrastructure Grant program as outlined below are invited to apply.
Nevada’s Medicaid Infrastructure Grant supports the competitive employment of people with disabilities by enhancing the state’s employment infrastructure and service delivery systems. Section 203 of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act (TWWIIA) of 1999 established a grant program supporting state efforts to better serve people with disabilities who are employed, as well as those who are seeking employment. Funding for this program is intended to facilitate enhancements to State Medicaid programs and services, to promote linkages between Medicaid and other employment-related service agencies, and to develop a comprehensive system of employment supports for people with disabilities. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is the designated federal agency with administrative responsibility for this grant program. It is the intention of the MIG program to fund subgrants in each of the following focus areas:
- Employment Network: Improvement of interagency collaboration to promote priorities identified in the 2010 Employment Summit
- Supported Employment: Educate employers and potential employees on the use of assistive technology to increase employment options
- Employment Training: Engage youth in career development experiences
- Outreach: Develop educational systems and public awareness
- Transportation: Enhance transportation options for persons with disabilities
For the 2011 grant period, approximately $512,000 will be available for subgrant awards.
Deadline for Submission and time: April 12, 2011 @ 5:00 p.m.
Applications and the 2010 Employment Summit Report may be found on the State’s Division of Health Care Financing & Policy website at https://dhcfp.nv.gov/HIWA . Application packets can also be obtained by emailing lcwarner@dhcfp.nv.gov at the MIG program.
